Physical Education and Practical Living, Southgate Public School
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! I hope this is an exciting year for all students, parents, and staff. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Kristy Jones. This is my 15th year teaching Physical Education and Practical Living to students at Southgate School. I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree from Northern Kentucky University. I received my Rank 1 through completing the National Boards program. I am married with two daughters who are 13 and 11 years old. My interests include following my girls and their many hobbies, traveling, and most of all University of Kentucky sports. Go CATS! I have many exciting things planned this year for all students in grades K-8. I will see your son or daughter twice a week (see schedule tab at top of page). My main goal is to teach my students how to be healthy (body, mind, and relationships), and life long exercisers. For specifics of what each grade will be studying throughout the year see the subject tabs above. If you have any questions or concerns you can reach me at [email protected] or by calling 441-0743 (ex.119). Here's to a great year in P.E. and P.L.! |
Physical Education Curriculum
All students in grades K-8 receive physical education once a week for 50 minutes. The SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) is the curriculum that I use to guide my instruction. SPARK is a research based curriculum that meets the needs of all types of learners and movers. You can find out more information about SPARK by visiting www.sparkpe.org.
Practical Living Curriculum
All students in grades K-8 receive practical living (health) once a week for 50 minutes. I have created my own curriculum based on the Kentucky Core Content and National Health Standards.
